David Sanzari, President and Chief Executive Officer, oversees the company’s daily operations with the hallmark hands-on management style for which Alfred Sanzari Enterprises has become known. He joined the company, under the watchful eye of his father, in 1972 as a Laborer in the Construction Department, where he rose through the ranks to become a Project Manager. During the course of his 40+-year career, he has earned industry-wide respect as a commercial real estate industry leader whose commitment to outstanding service and superior construction is unwavering.
Active in a wide range of industry, community and civic organizations, David is a member of the Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) Board of Governors, HUMC Foundation Board of Trustees and the hospital’s Advisory Board of Directors. In addition, he serves as Chairman of HUMC’s Facility Planning Development Committee.
Ben Sanzari, Vice President, is responsible for managing, maintaining and expanding the Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ multi-family portfolio, encompassing more than 500 total units throughout Northern New Jersey. Learning the family business from the ground-up, Ben launched his career in 1970 when he started out as a Laborer in the Construction Department. For the past 40+ years, he has been involved in every facet of Sanzari Enterprises’ commercial real estate business and is committed to delivering the highest level of service excellence at the company’s urban and suburban luxury and garden-apartment complexes.
Ryan Sanzari, Chief Operating Officer, represents the company’s third generation of family leadership. He grew up working summers as a laborer at Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ construction sites. Ryan joined the company full time in 2011 and today is responsible for overseeing Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ construction, leasing, property management and human resources departments, and ensuring the firm’s operational efficiencies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Villanova University, and from 2009 to 2011 worked as a political fundraiser in Lower Manhattan. Since 2013, Ryan has studied at the NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate.
Jeffrey M. Jacobson, Chief Financial Officer, has 30 years of strategic experience in the financial management, accounting, auditing and operational aspects of real estate companies. He joined Alfred Sanzari Enterprises in 2015 and is responsible for directing the execution of the company’s business plan and strategy, helping expand the firm’s real estate holdings, and overseeing all finance and accounting functions. Prior to joining Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, he was managing director/CFO of Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town, a 110-building multifamily and mixed-use complex in New York, N.Y. A certified public accountant, Jeffrey earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Vanderbilt University.
Pat Berardi, Director of Construction, oversees all construction-related matters at Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, where he started his career at the company’s inception in 1963. Since then, he has been involved in all of the company’s development projects, from inception to completion, and is responsible for training and managing Sanzari Enterprises’ construction team. An extremely knowledgeable, well-respected construction professional, he has been instrumental in planning and expanding Sanzari Enterprises’ entire real estate portfolio.
Jerry L. Barta, Vice President and Director, Leasing and Marketing, is responsible for overseeing all leasing and marketing activities related to Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ entire commercial real estate portfolio. Prior to joining the company in 1994, he served as an owner’s representative, associate asset manager and financial analyst at several prominent real estate companies and lending institutions throughout the New York metro area.
A graduate of Touro College with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and political science, Jerry earned a Juris Doctorate with honors from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in New York. He is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, New Jersey Chapter and a member of its Board of Trustees; Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of New York; Teaneck, NJ, Zoning Board of Adjustment; and New York State Bar Association, Real Estate Property Law Section.
Stephen C. Jennings, Vice President of Leasing and Marketing, joined Alfred Sanzari Enterprises in 2014 and is responsible for leasing and marketing two of the company’s premier office properties: Court Plaza in Hackensack and Heights Plaza in Hasbrouck Heights. Throughout his 21-year career in commercial real estate, Jennings has represented public, institutional and entrepreneurial owners in various asset classes including office, industrial, retail, office redevelopment and ground-up development. Stephen is a licensed New Jersey real estate broker, and earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Rutgers University.
Andrew T. Gerleit, Vice President of Construction, supervises and manages Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ overall real estate development activities, including the construction division’s planning services, practices, procedures and personnel. He joined the company in 2003 and has more than 28 years of development and construction-industry experience.
Andrew is actively involved, on behalf of several private institutions and local groups seeking to expand their facilities, in numerous committees and boards tasked with overseeing local construction, planning and development.
