Hackensack, NJ – Cole,
Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, P.A., one of the largest law
firms in New Jersey and the largest in Bergen County, is expanding
its office space by 25 percent and has signed a long-term lease renewal
at Court Plaza, a 335,000 square-foot office complex located directly
across from the Bergen County Courthouse in Hackensack, New Jersey.
The announcement was made by Jerry L. Barta, Vice President and Director
of
Leasing and Marketing for Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, owner and manager
of the complex.

Cole Schotz is expanding
from 61,000 to 77,000 square feet on three floors. The additional
space provides the firm with the ability to grow from its present
roster of 90 attorneys to 125. With the new space, Cole Schotz
occupies more space than any law firm in Northern New Jersey.
“Since 1986, we have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with the Sanzari
organization”, says Edward M. Schotz, senior partner of Cole Schotz.
“
It
is only natural that we would want to expand our offices here.” |

“The complex is one of the most prestigious office centers in New Jersey
and it has all of the amenities that our firm requires. The Sanzari name
and their reputation for outstanding, hands-on management, is certainly an
added benefit,” adds Schotz.
In addition to the extra space for Cole Schotz to increase their staff, the firm
will add a full-service, state-of-the-art conference center to enhance their
client service. Livingston-based Rotwein & Blake is serving as Cole Schotz’s
architectural consultants for the expansion.
“The decision of Cole Schotz, our largest and one of our longest-standing
tenants, to expand and extend its commitment to Court Plaza, is particularly
gratifying as it is the clearest evidence of the appeal Court Plaza has to the
legal community and other high caliber professional firms. It demonstrates the
high level of satisfaction our office tenants have with the service and amenities
we provide,” says Barta.
Court Plaza is home to a number of leading law firms and other professional service
providers with more than 500 professionals occupying office space at the complex.
New soon-to-be-open amenities, such as a cafeteria, fitness center and shared
conference rooms with high-speed Internet access, for use free of charge to Court
Plaza tenants, make Court Plaza an even more attractive choice for small and
large firms.
“Our relentless dedication to client servicing has resulted in steady
growth and the need for additional space to meet our clients’ expanding
needs,” says Co-Managing Director Michael Sirota.
"Having just commemorated our 75th anniversary, it is gratifying to have
grown to become the largest law firm in Bergen County, and to be positioning
ourselves to grow further,” adds Michael Forman, Co-Managing Director.
The
firm also has a Manhattan office plus 10,000 square-feet off-site for back office
operations. Cole Schotz is organized into 12 primary
practices: bankruptcy,
corporate, employment, environmental, health care, intellectual property, litigation,
mediation & arbitration, real estate, special education, tax, and trusts & estates.
David
Simson, president of GVA Williams of New Jersey acted as consultant to Cole Schotz;
Edward M. Schotz, Esq., Jan Alan Lewis, Esq., and
Michael E. Jones,
Esq., (all of Cole Schotz) represented the law firm and Michael Sternlieb, Esq.,
and Robyn A. Kowantz, Esq., both of Sternlieb and Dowd, LLC, represented Court
Plaza Associates.
The Court Plaza complex includes Court Plaza North, Court Plaza
South, and Court Plaza East. It is a striking office complex featuring extensive
landscaping with
tree-lined walkways, fountains, and large areas of open, green space. The architectural
design of the buildings reflects a stylish, modern combination of glass and granite
facades.
The buildings feature multiple fiber optic carriers, state-of-the-art
HVAC systems, two levels of secure underground parking, concealed
sprinklers, electronic HVAC
controls and flexible floor plates for versatility in interior space configurations.
The office campus is strategically located close to the Bergen County courthouse,
shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Nearby are numerous shopping malls and
the complex is just one mile from I-80 and less than two miles from Route 4.
As
one of the first major developments in the revitalization of Hackensack and its
downtown area, Court Plaza has served as a model for others
to follow. The
office complex has been a major factor in drawing business to the area and highlighting
the benefits of an urban location.
"Smart, progressive firms are returning to central business districts,” says
Barta. “They see the value in tighter integration and availability of services,
access to large pools of employment talent, greater accessibility, and greater
interaction with the business community.”
